SPDR: The Bell of the Ball
On Saturday, November 20th, SPDR was a beneficiary of one of Cincinnati’s largest and most anticipated events – The Rusty Ball. Many SPDR volunteers and friends were in attendance and had a great time dancing, listening to the band music and participating in the live and silent auctions. And, with all proceeds going to charity, who wouldn’t have a great time?
But besides being an amazing event of full of music, good friends and fun, the event raised Sheltered Paws (and a variety of other organizations) funds just in time for the cold winter months. Even without the final numbers being in from the Rusty Ball organizers, it is clear the SPDR fared better than most. Not only did we easily sell our share of tickets to the event, but our auction item and basket raffle definitely took everyone by surprise.
The biggest and best news of the night was that the week stay at Cotswolds of England, that was organized and donated by Pat Lehman as the SPDR silent auction, was deemed too good for the silent auction and was moved to the live event. As a result, the prize raised $3000 – all of which goes directly to Sheltered Paws!
As a result of this, and the many other successes of the night, SPDR would like to send special thanks yous to:
Jen Reinshagen for introducing SPDR to the Rusty Ball and doing all the work to make us a beneficiary!
Pat Lehman for donating a week stay at her sister’s house in England to SPDR for the auction! What a great idea and a huge success!
Jennifer Schneider and the SPCA team for putting together the SPDR raffle basket! It was amazing!
This event was such a huge success and we cannot wait to participate again. We hope that this annual event will allow us to reach out to more and more shelter dogs each year who need our help to find their forever home!
In case you haven’t heard…
At the end of August, we held our annual Night Golf Outing. This event, filled with friends, food and glow-in-the-dark fun is definitely a night to remember – but to us it is much, much more. The Golf Outing is SPDR’s single biggest fundraising event of the year and we count on it to raise a large amount of money quickly. While we do have a variety of smaller fundraising events throughout the year, this event revs us up for the winter season, supplying many of our pups with the veterinary care and medicines they need to make it through the long winter months.
This year, thanks to the huge hearts of our sponsors and guests, we raised a huge sum of money – a perfect start to the holiday season. While no amount is truly ever enough, this year’s gold outing was an amazing start.
The Grand Total for the event was $4313 and the breakdown is as follows:
Hole Sponsors: $1000
Golfers: $1880
Dinner Only Tickets: $440
Split the Pot: $88 (profit)
Raffle Baskets: $495
Cooler of Cheer: $340
Donations: $70
So, SPDR would like to send a huge THANK YOU out to its sponsors, players, volunteers and friends who contributed to this event – we could not have done it without you! But, most importantly we would like to thank Jennifer Reinshagen, for without her meticulous planning, the golf outing, and many of our events, would never happen!!
Sheltered Paws at the 8th annual Doggie Dash
This past Saturday the SPCA held their 8th annual Doggie Dash event at Sawyer Point in downtown Cincinnati. Sheltered Paws had a booth set up to sell merchandise, hand out brochures, and meet some of the dog lovers who attended this great event. We raised over $100 and met some great potential fosters and adopters.
Welcome…
