ASPCA $100K Challenge
SPCA Cincinnati is attempting to qualify for the ASPCA $100K Challenge, and they need your help! Currently, based on the number of votes they have received, they do not even qualify to compete in the challenge.
So, what can you do? VOTE! It takes less than two minutes, but it can change the world for the shelter and their animals forever! Please vote at http://challenge.aspcapro.org/vote-your-shelter (You have until April 15th and can cast one vote per day).
WHAT IS THE CONTEST??
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ nationwide competition is awarding funding prizes to shelters whose communities show the most support. From April 4 – 15, 2011, nearly 100 shelters across the country will compete in the qualifying heat of the ASPCA $100K Challenge. The 50 shelters with the most votes qualify to compete for more than $300,000 in prize grants, including a grand prize of $100,000. The second part of the competition challenges those top 50 animal shelters to save at least 300 more animals during the months of August, September, and October 2011 than they did over the same three-month period in 2010. With your help we can save more lives!
DON’T FORGET TO VOTE!
We work with dogs, but we’re busy as Bees
Yes, terrible joke, I know–Sorry! But, it’s true!
The cold weather here in Cincinnati seems to be almost behind us, and we are ready to take advantage of each and every day! We’ve only just begun and we are already up to our ears in exciting events and opportunities!
The event we are most excited about, is our upcoming Quarter Auction. These auctions are always fun, engaging and offer our friends a great opportunity to help Sheltered paws while having a blast. This event will definitely be a great opportunity to help our organization, but most importantly, the animals that are abused, neglected, pregnant or otherwise left and forgotten. With your help, we know we can achieve our mission to find every dog a forever home!
Don’t know what a Quarter Auction is or how it works?
You purchase a paddle (or many to increase your chances of winning) for $2.00 each. The bidding is based on the retail value of the item (see the bid schedule below). If you see an item you want to bid on, you simply throw in the quarter value associated with it into the bowl, raise your paddle and if your paddle number is selected, you WIN! The items to bid on come from a variety of vendors, including Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, Silpada, Tupperware, Tastefully Simple, Stampin’ Up and 31 Gifts.
Big Schedule:
$10 – $20 Retail Value is a 1 quarter bid
$21 – $40 Retail Value is a 2 quarter bid
$41 – $60 Retail Value is a 3 quarter bid
$61 plus Retail Value is a 4 quarter bid
The Details:
When: Thurs, April 21st @ 7pm (doors open @ 6:30pm)
Where: SPCA Cincinnati, 11900 Conrey Rd, Sharonville, OH
Additional Information: There will also be door prizes, a basket raffle, Split-the-Pot and DELICIOUS FOOD – pop, chips, desserts, homemade BBQ and homemade coleslaw.

Hot Shots Sand Volleyball
Hot Shots Sand Volleyball is at it again for SPDR. Each year, volleyball enthusiasts and friends get together for a Tournament benefiting Sheltered Paws that helps us pay for all those little necessities and keeps us going strong.
A full tournament schedule will be coming out but definitely mark your calendar for May 14th– the annual Sheltered Paws Tournament. Our adoptable dogs will be in attendance, ready to cheer on their favorite team and roll around in the sand. If you are looking for a new family member, this great place to find your new addition! And, as always, all proceeds go straight to Sheltered Paws!
League Information
In addition to the tournament, we’ve love for you to help out the sponsoring organization and be a part of their weekly leagues. The leagues will begin the week of April 17th, we’re hoping it will be permanently warm by then! We don’t know about everyone else, but we, and the SPDR pups, have severe cabin fever. Last year, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays were full or nearly full, so get your registration in asap to guarantee a spot for your team.
**NEW** The coordinators have added a men’s 4′s and a women’s 4′s to the Sunday night lineup and we’ve been told that the location will be offering more drink specials and will have some new food on the menu.
The reason we do all this!
Don’t forget to check out our adoptable dogs and help Sheltered Paws by spreading the word about dogs like Molly – an adorable American Bulldog mix. With your help, we can spread the word to friends and families who might not get a chance to see Molly’s bio, and provide her a loving home.
Welcome…
